Amethyst is your settled mind. Every piece is the inside of something, a pocket of gas trapped in cooling lava, sealed in the dark for a hundred million years, filling slowly with violet. Nobody arranged it. It grew that way and it waited, which is the whole practice held in a single object.

Kept in a room it slows the tempo of everything in it. It softens the urgency that has you reaching again for the choice you swore you'd finished with, and lets the pattern rise where you can finally see the shape of it. What you've already learned stops being something you know in theory and becomes something you know in the body.

Bring it into the rooms where you are least defended. Sleep deepens near it. Dreams sharpen. The thinking you do beside it tends to be more honest than the thinking you do anywhere else in the house.
